8.
When does the play end after the ball is hit?
After
a batter hits the ball into fair territory (i.e. the batter puts
the ball into play), the play will end when one of the following
conditions occur:
|
1
|
The
ball goes out-of-play. |
|
2
|
The
ball is back in the control of the pitcher and the pitcher
is in the pitcher's circle. |
|
3
|
The
umpire calls time out. |
In
addition, for the T-Ball and Mini-Rookies divisions, the play
shall end on any bad throw.
Base
runners may not advance once the play ends. For this reason,
fielders should try to get the ball back into the pitcher's
circle as soon as possible after making a play on a base runner.
