What are the responsibilities for the home team?
The
home team for the first game of the day is responsible for opening
the shed, getting the official score book, preparing the field,
and returning the field prep equipment to the shed. Field preparation
for dirt fields means dragging, lining, putting out the bases,
and if necessary watering the field. Field preparation must be
completed within 10 minutes prior to the start of the game or
the home team forfeits the game with a score of 0 to 7.
The
home team for the last game of the day is responsible for returning
the bases back to the shed, cleaning up the trash on the field
and dugout areas, emptying the trash barrel into the trash bin
(Park Village only), and locking the shed when they are the last
home team to leave the area.
Finally,
all home teams are responsible for being the official scorekeeper
of their games, and for passing the official score book onto
the next home team. The home team scorekeeper should have the
managers or designees sign the official score book after the
game to verify both the score and the number of outs pitched
by the pitchers. The home team for the last game of the day shall
return the official score book to the shed.
