2020 - 2021 Board of Directors Election
Each year PQGSA elects its new Board of Directors. This year we will be conducting our election using an online ballot. The election will be open from 9:00 am on Monday, June 29th through 11:59 pm on Wednesday, July 1st.

Per PQGSA Bylaws, families may complete 1 ballot for EACH PLAYER registered for the 2020 Spring Rec season. Please consult with family members to ensure that only one ballot is cast for each player. In order to ensure only PQGSA families are participating in the election, you will be asked to provide your player's name. Families with multiple players in the league should submit separate ballots for each player.

Positions without an interested candidate have a write-in option only. These questions may be skipped.

Unless otherwise noted, all positions are 1-year terms (August 1 - July 31). The newly elected board will take effect on August 1, 2020. President, Treasurer, and Player Agent will serve the 2nd year of their term; therefore, these positions are not on the 2020-2021 ballot.

Election results will be certified by Shawn Tran (President), Kevin Krogstad (Treasurer), and Scott Ward (Player Agent).

Check your email for a link to the ballot. Please contact Shawn Tran (president@pqgsa.org) with any questions.
STORM Tryout Information - Season Starts in July 2020
For the 2020 Winterball Season, PQGSA has partnered with STORM Softball to offer a more competitive softball environment for those highly skilled and all-star level players looking to play at the next level. This program is for players who will competing in the 8U, 10U, 12U, or 14U divisions during the 2021 Spring Rec season.

The STORM Softball program is different from the Winterball Rec program in that teams will play a more competitive schedule over a longer period and be selected from a tryout process. These teams will play more games and be involved in local tournaments.

Participation for STORM teams is by invitation or tryout only. Please contact the respective manager for your age division to arrange a tryout:

For 8U please contact Nate Muren at nmuren@fedex.com
For 10U Silver please contact Eric Kiefer at eric.kiefer7@gmail.com
For 10U Gold please contact Scott Ward at stormsoftball2014@gmail.com
For 12U please contact Chris Ledbetter at chrislebetter@icloud.com
For 14U please contact Jeff White at jjduhb66@yahoo.com
Play Ball!!!!

PQGSA Families,

It has been exactly 3 months and 1 day since we were forced to close our softball fields due to COVID-19, but now SOFTBALL is BACK!

Beginning Monday, June 15th, Rec teams can begin practicing as part of our 3-week softball camp session. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who have spent countless hours bringing the fields back to playable condition -- for those of you who have driven by Canyonside you know what a feat this was!

As we return to the fields, there are a number of modifications that PQGSA has made in order to ensure the safety of our players and families. Some of these modifications include:

  • Sanitizing all shared equipment using a disinfecting spray
  • Use of hand sanitizer before, during, and after practice
  • No sharing of personal equipment
  • Use of face masks / coverings for all adults on the field
  • Social distancing whenever feasible, including storage of gear 6 feet apart
  • Adjusted start and end times to ensure Team A is able to leave the field before Team B arrives
  • Set rosters to create "stable youth groups"

Before a player may begin practicing the Parent Commitment COVID-19 form must be signed and given to your manager. I encourage you to print and sign this form before coming to your first practice. Managers will have extra copies available as well.

Please check your child for any symptoms of COVID-19 before practice. If your child exhibits any symptoms, do not bring her to practice and contact your manager immediately.

Additionally, it is highly encouraged that you drop off your daughter at the beginning of practice and return to pick her up when practice is over. If you choose to stay at practice you will be asked to wear a mask / facial covering if you are within 6 feet of any player, coach, or other parent.

All-Stars Update

Many parents have inquired as to the status of a 2020 All-Star season for 8U-14U players. As of June 12th, USA Softball has decided to cancel the traditional All-Star program that consists of District, State, and National Championships. Contingent on state, county, and city regulations, USA Softball is hoping to host tournaments (similar to Select tournaments) beginning in mid-July. PQGSA will continue to monitor the options for tournament play.

Again, I welcome everyone back to the fields! Let's play ball PQ!
